NCAA San Diego St Florida Gulf Coast Basketball

A week ago, most of America did not know what FGCU(Florida Gulf Coast University)  stood for, now they are America’s favorite underdog after beating highly favored Georgetown in their first NCAA tournament appearance. Two days later and they have made history again. The glass slipper has continued to fit the Eagles as they become the first ever #15 seed to advance to the Sweet 16. This is their first ever Sweet 16 appearance in only their second year of NCAA Division 1 eligibility. “Our goal was to make history and we did it,” stated Head Coach Andy Enfield. The Eagles defeated #7 San Diego State 81-71 last night in Philadelphia, PA. They continue play against #3 Florida Friday, March 28 at 9:57pm on CBS. To learn more about FGCU visit here. dm_130324_La_Salle_Ole_MissAnother Cinderella Story: FGCU isn’t the only team making NCAA history in 2013, La Salle University is also wearing glass slippers. #13 La Salle made school history by being the first squad to be invited to the tournament in 21 years.  Yesterday’s triumph over Ole Miss added to their history making run by making it their longest run since 1955.  La Salle University is a small Catholic school located in North Philadelphia, #NorthPhillyAgainstTheWorld. They are the final Atlantic-10 team and Philadelphia team left in the NCAA tournament. The Explorers continue play on Thursday, March 27 at 10:17pm on TBS.
