KellyRowland

With the release of her new single “Dirty Laundry” (Available on iTunes May 21st), we are seeing a dark yet more autobiographical side of Ms. Kelly Rowland… a side many never even knew existed. Alluding to a past abusive relationship and feelings of envy towards Beyonce (whom she refers to as her “sister” throughout the song) the single is sure to leave you with a greater sense of what Kelly Rowland has been through. Equipped with gripping lines such as:

“I was battered, he hit in a window like it was me until it shattered/He pulled me out, he said, ‘Don’t nobody love you but me, not your mama, not your daddy, and especially not Bey.”

It is clear, that Kelly is becoming more comfortable with disclosing personal aspects of her life. The song was penned by The Dream for her forthcoming album Talk A Good Game.

Listen to it below:

As I listened to the song, I couldn’t help but wonder if the song “Girl” from Destiny Child’s 2004 album Destiny Fulfilled was in fact about the situation that Kelly was going through at the time (here’s a clip of a live performance of the song from their 2006 concert in Atlanta)…

It definitely gives you something to think about…

What do you think of Kelly’s new single?
