This is bad journalism. I mean, I don’t even consider myself a true journalist, but this is bad. I had every intention of going to the FADER and Vitamin Water‘s first night of their 5th year anniversary celebration of their #Uncapped Series to cover it objectively and thoroughly. I did. But I ended up truly enjoying myself. Sigh.

It started with a text to my best friend Jordan, “I’m debating if I even should go, I’m tired.” I was 10 hours into my production job and wasn’t really motivated to attend, but remembered that Sevyn was performing this first night and convinced myself to go. Walking in, immediately greeted with a line to the photobooth, followed by another line to create a custom T-Shirt, and a shorter but much more appreciated line for free cocktails, I was glad I went. The FADER and Vitaminwater have had a great tenure together, featuring the likes of Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, Vic Mensa,  Jhene Aiko and more. To celebrate their 5th anniversary, they’ve decided to host five nights of free booze, t-shirts and mini-concerts.

Tonight kicked off with alternative dance duo Matt and Kim and one of my favorite R&B singers, Sevyn Streeter, who let us know that powerful vocals and expressive lyricism are a gift, not the norm.

After her set, featuring her songs “I Like It”, “Boomerang”, “It Won’t Stop”, her recent cover of Tory Lanez’ “Say It” and more, it was clear that the near week-stay event was one to be at.

When I grabbed my fourth of fifth drink for the night and saw that Sevyn was grabbing one with me, I realized I had truly failed in my mission to not get immersed in the event. Which truly means that the FADER and Vitaminwater did their job right.

To continue my bad journalism, don’t have many great pictures, Yet! Here’s my snapchat recap. Enjoy.

The celebration continues in New York’s Meatpacking District through Saturday. Hopefully you RSVP’d in time.
