THE EXPERIENCE

What started out as a slow evening for me at a seemingly quiet local pizzeria, turned into a busy night that left me surrounded by an energetic crowd. Piola has made pizza look stylish, with its decor of colorful hanging lights and exposed brick walls. This restaurant sits on the upper corridor of 14th street, an area scarce of good pizza spots. It’s in the perfect spot! Piola is an Italian treat for all who visit, but the Ladies night special is what keeps this place crowded on Thursdays. Each Thursday, Piola hosts ladies’ night, where women get house red and white wine all night for 10 cents a glass with the purchase of an entree. Entrees typically range from $9- $18 in cost(pizzas are included).

The upstairs area typically gets pretty crowded as the night progresses, and the service suffers as a result. Prepare for possible wait times once you’re seated, and mediocre service.

I’d recommend ordering one of their pizzas, because some of the pastas and other entrees are on the bland side, leaving much to be desired. The restaurant draws a mostly young, hip crowd. The restaurant is also accommodating for large groups, so feel free to bring a few friends with you for the experience. Overall, if you’re looking for a casual atmosphere with a good wine and pizza combo, Piola is your spot.
