refund

refund2In addition to education, attending college had some pretty good benefits. A key benefit of being in school was the REFUND CHECK. We all knew when it was “refund check season.” We would see the “ballers” in the latest fashion trends and new Foamposites. The females came to class in fresh expensive weaves and new MAC makeup. Some of our compadres would finally get the chance to make it rain and park valet at the strip clubs Parties that were once sponsored by Everclear and Burnettes began to be sponsored by Ciroc, Hennessey, and Grey Goose. Some even finally got to catch up on their child support. I’m joking … well sort of. Nonetheless, refund check season was a season everyone looked forward to!

refund1I miss those days. My refund check went towards Spring Break in South Beach. Whenever I went to Miami, I knew financials were never going to be problem. My housing situation and meals were already paid for thankfully from Temple Athletics. Patron bottles were bought DAILY, and not the pint … the champion bottle! While I was underage, I had to slip the bouncers a few dollars. I would never do that with my
hard earned cash. I’d always be able to “ball” on South Beach, and return to reality broke. Nowadays, I have to pay for my own vacations from money I actually earn by the hour. No more handouts or benefits. These days paying for vacation gets annoying when you have to pay bills and rent in addition. Gone are the days of my refund checks, but I definitely took full advantage of those days.

How did you spend your refund checks?

Well…I never got a refund check (might have been cause I’m international) but if I were to get one I think I would have invested it into mutual funds, CDs something of that nature. Sounds, nerdy I know but if you think about it investing a portion that refund into a mutual fund/CD and having it just sit there for a few years earning interest could help you pay off for that loan quicker….food for thought :)
