THE EXPERIENCE

If you live in the DC Petworth area, and are looking for a little neighborhood happy hour charm, look no further than The Looking Glass Lounge. You’ll feel at home in this unpretentious, friendly neighborhood bar where it doesn’t matter if you frequent the location or you’re only there once a month, the staff will engage with you as if you never missed a beat. And it’s pretty easy to feel comfortable. Vintage and Western saloon artwork adorn the walls, and a jukebox sits in the corner at the end of the bar.

Prepare to indulge in one of their beer and shot combo $7 specials(seriously, you can’t beat that), or one of their wing and beer combo specials. And don’t be thrown off by the almost-burnt look of the down and dirty wings. Much like the look and feel of this place, the outer layer isn’t reflective of the treat within.

The bar also boasts a diverse menu, providing patrons with options ranging from a shrimp po’ boy to some of the best chicken tenders you’ll find at a bar. There is also a variety of options for the vegan and vegetarian, including a soy burger and avocado tacos.

The music is typically bartender’s choice which could be funky rock on some days and R&B on another. Depending on the day of week that you go, you might walk into a dim room with a DJ spinning recent funky hits or a room where folks are collaborating to figure out the name of Prince’s debut album or World War II’s defining battle. Whether you’re attending on a Tuesday Trivia Night or a Friday jam session, you’re sure to get a proper wind down after a busy workday in this relaxed, unassuming Petworth gem.
